I'm sure I've met many of you at church before, but perhaps some of you I've never met. And maybe some of you are perusing Mosaic's website, and you're not even a member yet. In any case, let me introduce myself. I am Carla Hendricks, the other half of Anthony Hendricks, teaching pastor here at Mosaic and campus pastor of our Conway campus. I am a freelance writer, which means I do a little writing, but I'm self-employed. I have been blogging for some time now, and it has surprised me how much I'm loving this blog world. As a matter of fact, I've recently been so caught up in my blogging, I've been thinking I better get out there and do some writing that actually pays!

Well, many of you know that the Conway campus celebrated our new location this past Sunday. It was a blast! Worship was awesome and the Word was amazing. There was an incredible energy that permeated the sanctuary. You could feel the love of Jesus and love for one another in the room, even amongst our visitors.

And that's what I want to discuss today.

Mosaic has become known as the church "where diverse individuals walk, work and worship God together as one." One visit to any of our campuses (we've got one in Durham, North Carolina too) would reveal an authenticity within our leaders and members alike. We are a people that practice what we preach. Of course we're not perfect and we don't have the race dilemma in the United States completely figured out, but we do love one another, regardless of race, culture or social class.

This past Monday, I took some visiting family members to the Little Rock Central High School Historic Site. Each time I visit the museum, I leave with a different "take-away." This time was no exception. A quote by John Lewis, a famous Civil Rights leader and former Freedom Rider truly resonated within my spirit.

"If not us, then who? If not now, then when?"

While those words originally spoke of the Civil Rights struggle in our country's history, I believe they ring true for us today. A lot has changed since those days, but not nearly enough. While, for the most part, Americans can choose any school or mode of public transportation we desire, today we can be found self-segregating. Our high school cafeterias, our neighborhoods and -- dare I say it -- our churches are still largely segregated. We oftentimes choose to stay with "our own kind."

How this must grieve the heart of our Savior. The same Savior that taught his disciples to pray "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." And what does heaven look like? Let's peer into Revelation 5:9.

"And they sang a new song; 'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.'"

I feel so privileged to belong to a church that looks like heaven on earth. Where men and women from every tribe and language and people and nation are welcome and may even find other people that resemble them!

I'll close with a video that displays the Kingdom of God on earth. In this video, a homeless man joins in to sing with a man shooting a Christian music video.

Blessings to you,
