A Call To Prayer

Mosaic is entering into the ministry season in which we will celebrate our 10th Anniversary and move across the street, God willing! We have much to look forward to as we become even more dependent on Him who is able. One of the greatest ways we can declare our dependence on Him is through prayer.

Our good friend, Daniel Henderson, says that prayerlessness is our “declaration of independence from God.” And if we want to show God that we are doing this in our own strength and in our own confidence as mere humans, all we have to do is to stop praying. Scary thought, isn’t it?

I believe God is preparing for us a tremendous season of ministry; with many powerful blessings already germinating. With this in mind, I am challenged in my own personal life to be prayerful, humble and dependent on Him. This is a difficult battle, for we have an enemy that is fighting against us every step of the way. We must likewise increase the weapon of prayer to counteract the strategic forces meant to kill, steal and destroy.

On Wednesday, October 5, at 7:00 pm we’ll be holding special prayer service, led by our elders. We are asking for volunteers of all ministries, regardless of the position, to attend and be prayed over. Please plan to attend, so that we can corporately petition our Heavenly Father to bless this upcoming ministry year. Childcare will be provided.

Remember, “nothing of eternal significance can happen apart from prayer!” Come and be a part of shaping eternity.

Dear Mike,Varadios memadbers of my famadily have sufadfered with being bipoadlar. I too was diagadnosed with bipoadlar and told to take medadicaadtion for basiadcally the rest of my life. I, howadever, went to the DSM-IV (the encyadcloadpeaddia of menadtal disadoradders) and read up on the topic. I donb4t know how much you youradself have researched the issue. What I have enraeld is that there two basic sources of bipoadlaradity. One is chemadiadcal and thus treatadable with medadiadcine which gives good results where the peradson is more or less able to feel noradmal when the right dosage is found. The secadond is more relaadtional and is treated by healading the deep psyadchoadlogadiadcal wounds and makading changes in lifestyle that affect our psyadcholadogy. For examadple if the peradson is workading 7 days a week and is stressed out, if the peradson has no spiradiadtual life (not seekading to know the God who loves us), and/or not eatading well, sleepading enough, or exceradsizading, etc. then the peradson needs to change his lifestyle. Medadiadcines canadnot heal an unbaladanced life. Many (legitadiadmate) psyadcholadoadgists and counadselors get frusadtrated becouse peoadple come and waste money recievading counadselading when they never put in pracadtise the advice given to them.My probadlem was that I am a peradfecadtionadist and was in a new job sitaduadaadtion where I was not havading sucadcess. Instead of being patient with myself and my defects and givading myself time to grow into the new job, I got down on myself and tried to “pick myself up by my bootadstraps”, the result was depresadsion. The cure was acceptading myself as I was and getadting up every day with the desire to please God by doing my best. With Godb4s help, with the underadstandading of good friends and counadselors I came out of the depresadsion. I pray that you will find the root of your bipoadlaradity and that God will heal you in His infiadnite love.Shalom,P.a0Isaac
