1. Why two services?
a. To improve the quality of our ministry to children. Finally,
our children will have the same teachers from week to week!
b. To maximize use and minimize costs in this facility.
c. So that everyone can attend the worship service each week.
d. To provide a 2nd option for worship at Mosaic.
e. To promote the value of service among our members.
f. To provide the time/space for adult classes on Sunday a.m.
2. Why now?
a. To prepare now for the future in our new facility.
Multiple services were already envisioned. Opening a 2nd service
at this time will allow for a more seamless transition in
the future.
b. To be pro-active in addressing the needs of our children.
c. To transition in the summer and not in the winter.
3. Can’t we just add more chairs?
It is not the worship area, but the children’s area
that has reached its capacity. See #1b above.
4. Will I still see everyone?
Absolutely. Since all members will be asked to worship in
one hour and serve in another, we will actually increase the
time we are together on Sunday mornings and create a variety
of new opportunities for interaction.
5. Will we still provide for Spanish and ASL translation
in the services?
Yes, but initially, we will do so only at the 10:45 a.m. hour.
In such a way, we hope to enlist many of our Latino and Deaf
Community members to serve alongside others in the 1st hour.
PLEASE NOTE:
1st generation Latinos in need of translation and members
of Mosaic’s Deaf Community should sign-up to attend
the 2nd service and to serve in the 1st service.
6. What about parking?
It should not at all be a problem. If the need arises, we
will designate a certain section of the parking lot those
involved in both services.
7. Will we still have Communion twice a month?
Yes, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays as we have from the beginning.
8. What about the Community Meal?
We will still provide and enjoy this time together after the
2nd service on the third Sunday of every month.
9. Baby dedications, baptisms?
Baby dedications will be held on the first Sunday of each
month and at the service the parents of the child attend.
Baptisms will remain on the third Sunday of each month and,
likewise, we will baptize individuals in the service they
attend.
10. So how will Mosaic Kids work?
We will provide a Children’s Church for grades K –
4 at 9:00 a.m. and then age appropriate classes for them beginning
at 10:45 a.m. In so doing, we will ensure that children remaining
for two services will be uniquely engaged at the different
hours. Of course, nurseries will be open throughout the morning.
11. What about Student Ministries (grades 5 –
12)?
We are very excited about a new format for students in grades
5 – 12. They will gather at 10:25 and begin with age-appropriate
coaching groups led by older students and adult volunteers
meeting until 10:55 a.m. At that time, their time of worship
will begin with music and a word from Amos. At 11:25 am, they
will attend equipping-oriented classes taught by adult volunteers.
This area – perhaps more than any other – needs
an increased number of adults to get involved!
PLEASE NOTE - Families with children in grades 6
– 12 will need to attend the 1st service together as
a family in order for their students to take advantage of
this opportunity. At Mosaic, we value families worshipping
together as a first priority. We discourage families with
children in this season of life from attending only the 2nd
service except where absolutely necessary. Consequently …
- Parents with students in MSM should be involved as volunteer
leaders on Sunday mornings in this vital area of ministry!
- Again, families with children in this season of life should
sign-up to attend the 1st worship service at 9:00 a.m.
12. Will there now be adult classes offered on Sunday
mornings?
a. The Gateway classes will continue to be offered at the
9:00 a.m. hour each Sunday: Gateway I (1st and 3rd Sundays)
and Gateway II (2nd and 4th Sundays.
b. In addition, we will now have the classroom space (3 rooms)
to offer elective classes and/or space for LifeGroups to meet
as needed or desired at the 9:00 a.m. hour. If you have an
idea for an elective class or desire, in fact, to lead one,
please contact Pastor Mark.
13. How will the move to two services affect the
staff?
We’re glad you asked! All of us are excited about the
move and look forward to “working smarter not harder”
in the days ahead!
